Accepting support from whānau helped Ngaro after his marriage left him grieving the loss of his kids and home. After getting through his depression with support from friends and his psychologist, he learned how to help others.

"Journey Back to Awesome"

The Youth in Transition Trust on the Hibiscus Coast supports young people on their journey back from the end of their road and have developed a five-component programme:
The Journey Back To Awesome.

The aim of our programme is to assist young people (aged 10-24) in finding and strengthening their own resources, towards leading full and meaningful lives.

To achieve this, they work with each young person to develop an individual, Journey Back To Awesome plan. The five key components, complement each other to provide holistic support that is aligned with our philosophy and best practice.

Grayson was one of the first to go through the programme and has returned in a mentor capacity for the Trust to support others going through the programme.

Katie Hunt -  How loss can teach us to live

How do you build a future after the one you thought you were going to have no longer exists? Overnight, Katie was left with the enormous job of being a solo parent, financially supporting her family, running her household and generally trying to stay sane in complete chaos.

Grief comes in many forms in our life - after death, divorce, injury, career change. So how do you build from the rubble of a future you thought you were going to have? Katie is a mother and a widow. After the death of her husband in 2020, she is raising two excellent and funny boys, balanced with her career in banking, and relying heavily on humour to figure out this new life..
